Our Values

Knights of Academia is an educational organization devoted to helping individuals develop self discipline, critical thinking skills, and positive habits. We believe that in order to see true change throughout the world, we need to first embody that change within ourselves.

With that mission in mind, our quest is to provide you with the resources for study support, group accountability, and other various resources designed to support your personal and academic goals. In order to build a company culture that creates space for our mission to flourish, we’ve devised the CASTLE system to embody our values:

Community

First and foremost, we put our community at the heart of what we do. Every event we run, article we release and bot we build has the needs of our members at its core and drives the direction of KOA.

Acceptance

Our mission attracts people from all walks of life, and we are dedicated to providing a safe space for anyone whose mission is in line with ours. By promoting diversity and camaraderie we lay the groundwork to create a supportive and trusting environment.

Self-Actualisation

The apex of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is self-actualisation: the realization or fulfilment of one’s talents and potentialities. We believe that paths towards this include self-discipline, critical thinking, and positive habits; all contributing to one’s agency to choose their path in life.

Teamwork

The power of community lies in our ability to leverage the power of accountability through our teamwork. By banding together, and keeping each other honest and accountable, we can accomplish so much more than we could alone.

Learning

The ‘Academia’ of ‘Knights of Academia’ — this represents our commitment to ongoing learning. Reading source materials, seeking mentors in our fields and committing to learning from books, individuals, successes and mistakes all contribute to ongoing growth.

Enrichment

When we put the effort into improving ourselves, we develop the skills to help improve our world. Through meeting the community’s needs and developing content and resources we are able to pay it forward for the learning and opportunities we’ve been given.
